HOW TO REPAIR A USB CHARGER CABLE. My wife noticed that her USB cable was starting to come loose. You know, when you plug it in to charge your phone, it keeps dropping, which I find very annoying. As an amazing husband, I decided to find a way to fix this problem without buying a new cable. It took me a bit of time, but I figured out how to fix this problem. Yes, I have McGyver skills that you don’t know. Although instead of using a paperclip and string, I used pliers and a needle.

The little pins that make up your USB cable wear out over time. Here is how to solve the problem.

  • Tools to repair a USB charger cable
  • Needle-nose pliers or equivalent
  • Something with a fine point, like a needle
  • Your mobile phone or another device to test the USB drive

How to Fix a USB Cable

Now is the time to get down to business:

Step 1. Remove the cable you are going to repair.

Step 2. Using the needle, place the point under the front of one of the pins. And as if you were using a crowbar, gently lift the pin to avoid breaking it.

Step 3. After lifting some pins, use the pliers to grab the pin. If you still can’t get hold of the pins, use the needle again to lift them higher. You just need to raise the pins enough.

Step 4. It’s time to test your work. Grab the mobile phone or other device and connect the micro USB terminal. If your cable falls more without you detaching it, the result is good. If the USB pins are too high, just press down on a flat surface to lower them.

You should now be able to save money for more important items.
